We provide annual Pap smears and breast exams to women who need them. We understand that some women prefer to see a gynecologist for their annual exams. And we are okay with that. We also understand that some women prefer their primary care provider to provide these services. We can do that also. Clinical breast exams are usually started at age 20 and continued throughout life. Mammograms begin at age 40; or 10 years prior to the age of the youngest first degree relative diagnosed with breast cancer. Mammograms are usually continued until age 75, (10yr survival benefit) or until the patient chooses to stop. Pap smears start at age 21 or three years after becoming sexually active, whichever comes first. Pap smears are repeated every one to two years until age 30, after which having three normal Pap smear is in a row, and no history of HPV; they can be done every two to three years.
